He has been an avid (mostly rock) climber since the mid-1980s, and is the author of the Climbing Dictionary and the memoir Death Grip. He enjoys early-morning MoonBoard sessions, spending time with his family, and scoping for new routes in his backyard of the Flatirons, Colorado.
