Paraclimbing Will Debut at the LA28 Paralympics!
It's been a long road to get here. Let's take a look at the history.
Emily Chen-Newton is a freelance audio producer and journalist. Her production work began with Allegheny Mountain Radio in West Virginia, but then moved to the flatlands of Nebraska reporting on child welfare and social justice issues. Her work has been heard on National Public Radio and various podcasts. Finally making it back to her home state of Kentucky, Emily’s reporting is colliding with her longtime love of rock climbing with a particular focus on climbers with disabilities.

The event boasted the largest lineup of paraclimbers ever seen on a world stage—203 athletes competing in 17 different classification categories.

This year also marked the first time the Para Nationals were held during the same week and at the same location as the National Team Trials for the USA National Climbing Team.
With nearly 100 adaptive athletes and 60 volunteers, this year’s ACF was more than twice the size of the previous fest.
