Ice World Cup champion Harald Berger has flashed the M12 mixed climb Vertical Limits. According to a report he sent to www.desnivel.es, the Austrian climber flashed Vertical Limits on his first day at Ueschinen, Switzerland. Markus Stofer, who established many of the mixed routes at the crag, shouted beta to Berger as he climbed. Berger won the overall Ice World Cup title in 2003 and tied for first in 2002. Established last year by Robert Jasper, Vertical Limits is one of only three or four M12 routes in the world. Now that it has been flashed, it seems likely that harder routes will be climbed soon. Last winter, the M11 climb Mission Impossible was flashed and onsighted.
